Back to Life VBS Countdown!!

The Back to LIFE VBS (Vacation Bible School) countdown in on!! 30 more days!!

First I have to give a BIG HUGE THANK YOU to all of you who have already responded so generously. We are well on our way to giving these children in Haiti our very best and making this VBS one they will not soon forget! Our shipping cost to haul all things needed to host VBS for 150 kids (which by the way is an obnoxiously LARGE amount of stuff) to Haiti has been covered. Praise God!! We also had enough donations come in to cover the cost of some of our transportation costs, food we will take for them, and all 150 Jesus Bible story booklets we are taking for each child (in their own Haitian Creole language). Praise God!!  Medicine donations are continuing to come in at church as well.  Praise God!!

But we still need more help to make this happen and we only have 30 days until we are Haiti bound to host the Back to Life VBS for the children at Pastor Nahum’s village!

Will you take a minute to absorb the reality with me of the severely poverty stricken forgotten souls we are talking about?

Did you know Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere? Did you know only about 50% of the population over 15 years old can read? Did you know 55% live on less than $1.25 US a day? Did you know that about 50% of the population practices Voodoo?

These are the hard ugly facts about the 3^rd world country where Pastor Nahum lives with all of his orphans. The magnitude of their suffering and needs are extremely overwhelming and naturally causes us to want to squeeze our eyelids tightly shut and run hard in the opposite direction. But, everything changes once you hold one of these helpless children in your arms. Once you stare into their eyes and hear their cries they are no longer a statistic…they are real children with real needs who feel real pain.

We have a choice.

We can ignore their cries...we can turn away leaving them helpless, broken, lonely and forgotten.

OR

We can be the church to them. We can unleash the power of God’s love over a dying and desperate people that will restore their hope. When we take the love Jesus gives us and give it away to the needy, we are investing in God’s kingdom…it’s incredibly redemptive and beautiful.

I can practically hear you now. You have been willing to face the ugly story of these children and you are not about to go on with your day as though they do not exist. You want to know how your can take action to transform an ugly story into something beautiful...a story where you hear children playing games, eating food, learning about God, and receiving the precious gift of hope and joy. You are dying to know how you can get in on this amazing kingdom journey!

I'm not even kidding...this is SO easy for everyone to participate in!!

We lack $1,500 to cover our needs in order to host a super amazing VBS for these kids this July. It seems like a lot of money for one person but it doesn't have to be about one person.

Now, for those of you who are visual and need examples like me, here ya go:

There are 150 kids. That translates into $10 per child. I don’ t really do math but I think there’s like a guh-illion different ways we can meet the VBS needs for these kids.

Maybe there is a person out there who wants to give all $1500 to meet our needs to host VBS for all 150 children.

Or maybe 10 people will give $150.

Or maybe 30 people will give $50.

Or maybe 50 people will give $30.

Or 75 people could give $20.

Or even better, 150 people could sponsor just one child for ony $10 and that will cover all of our VBS needs for all 150 children!!

It doesn't matter if you’ve been following the story of these kids for an entire year or if this is your first time to read about what God is doing with the Back to Life ministry in Haiti...I promise when you sponsor one of these kids through Back to Life you are absolutely pouring straight into God's kingdom!!

Would you please consider taking the time to write out a $10 check and stick it in the mail today? I know it’s much easier to think that somehow others will take care of these needs but sadly too many people assume the same thing and it results in crushing the hopes of the children and leaving them forgotten once again.

Can we all just skip two trips to Starbucks this week or pass on one movie for the sake of 150 hopeful children waiting with expectation for a fun filled VBS complete with food to fill their hungry tummies?

Oooh...how about use this as an opportunity to plant seeds of hunger in our own children's hearts for God's kingdom?  Read a few of the stories of Pastor Nahum's orphans to them and allow them to give $10 from their allowance for this cause...let's raise up a generation of children who at a very young age will know what it means to love like Jesus and further His kingdom.  

Sponsor as many children as you want or simply sponsor one for only $10. IT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!! YOU can participate in this incredibly beautiful, redemptive, kingdom work…it’s only going to take a minute.

Your $10 will go directly towards providing one child with a new white polo school uniform shirt, crafts, games, prizes and snacks for them during the Back to Life VBS, and a very special and rare meal complete with rice, beans, meat, bread, and juice on the last day of VBS. Plus on returning from Haiti on July 26^th I will be updating this blog with TONS of pictures from the BACK to LIFE VBS that will be made possible because of the $10 you are choosing to give to sponsor a child now!! 

We have the opportunity to lavish 150 children living in deep poverty with fun games, prizes, crafts, food, and most importantly, God’s word…our $10 immediately transfers into Jesus love to a child in Haiti. Take a look at some of their sweet faces in this video….
