There was a time in my life when not knowing seemed easier. It was easier to stay wrapped in the American bubble of my self-serving society and pretend the statistics of the orphans and people living in absolute poverty were not truly real.
But then Haiti happened. God opened the eyes of my heart to the orphans and least of these and for the first time they were no longer just a sad face on a commercial or a statistic. Now some of these statistics have become permanently part of my life…they are family.
I don’t have to apply effort to remember them…they have stolen my heart and remain in my prayers.
There is a sickening contrast between the lives of third world children and our first world children but I find comfort in knowing there is no partiality in God’s love for these kids. He loves the third world kids the same as the first world kids. He loves them and I love them.
I’ve watched God love and sustain Pastor Nahum’s orphans. He whispers His truth in their hearts as He holds them through the dark nights. He takes away their pain and comforts them in His divine way. His love for them is tangible. He moved them from the tents they once lived in and into a home with a real roof. He provided them with a bathroom. He feeds them. He provided them with a water well that gives them fresh clean water.
Today I write to give God glory for yet another blessing for the orphans. Do you remember the solar panel electric system we are raising funds for to help provide constant electricity for Pastor Nahum’s orphanage, school, and church?
It’s expensive but money is never an obstacle for God. We prayed and you gave and with your support we raised enough for Pastor Nahum to purchase the generator from the Port au Prince MSC store, aka The Haiti Home Depot.
Here it is.
Woohoo!! Praise God!! Back to Life has a generator!
I spent some time talking to Pastor Nahum about what this generator will mean for BTL.
He was excited as he talked to me about this and asked me to please write something very nice to thank everyone who prayed and supported financially to help BTL get this generator.
You could hear the joy in his spirit as he shared.
“The generator is such a blessing. It will change our lives. When the city of Mirebalais gives us power it is never strong enough. This generator will give us a stronger current to help us power my church and the electric pump on my water well. When the city cuts the electricity now my family and orphans will still have fans when it is so hot. Do you know that electricity is always a big problem for us during our December revival? This year I do not have to worry if the city cuts the electricity. I have a generator now so we will always have lights during our revival. This is a big blessing for us.”
God is so good! We are praising God for this blessing and praying for the support to make BTL completely independent of the city power one day soon. To make this a reality we still need 6 solar panels X $340 each = $2040 and 6 batteries X $145 each = $870 and an inverter = $999. The remaining total needed to complete the solar panel system is $3909. Nothing is impossible with God!
God’s love and care for us is not temporary…He doesn’t love us for a short time and then move on. He keeps loving us and He keeps loving the orphans.
THANK YOU ALL FOR RESPONDING TO THE NEEDS OF OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN HAITI!! BONDYE BENI OU!! GOD BLESS YOU!!
