Gilbert Chrisitan Church13th Anniversary/Revival

"Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?"  Psalm 85:6

Pastor Nahum is in a familiar place…a place he rarely leaves…a place where the anguish of all things physical strangely fade…a place where the mysteries of God’s glorious kingdom and the good news of salvation and redemption in Jesus Christ satisfies the deepest huger of his soul…

The eye can’t yet see this place but it’s real.  It’s holy.  It’s where you have spiritual fellowship with Jesus.  It’s where you know God loves you.

On December 10, 1998, a little church in Haiti called Gilbert Christian Church held its very first service.  In honor of the anniversary of Gilbert Christian Church Pastor Nahum hosts a two week revival which ends on December 10th every year or on the Sunday closest to this date.  The final service is a celebration complete with a meal to feed everyone who attends.

This year marks the church's 13th anniversary.  On a dark night in Mirebalais, sits a sheet metal roof supported by pvc pipes with 5 single light bulbs dangling from the center support beam.  Pastor Nahum and the people of his church open their hearts wide to anyone willing to come and hear the good news…praise songs are sung, prayers are prayed, seeds are planted.

Last night their traditional two week long revival was launched.
The hope found in Jesus Christ is a hope that saves.  It’s an unexplainable hope that brings joy even to the souls of 3rd world people.

This hope courses through Pastor Nahum’s veins, “The first night was a blessed night with many people.  Three young men gave their life to Christ.”

Praise God!!

Pastor Nahum covets all prayers over these next two weeks.  Here are some specific things he is requesting prayer for:
  • Pray the Holy Spirit would speak through Pastor Nahum and his associate pastors who will share the responsibility of preaching God's word to the people each night.
  • Pray for strength and endurance for Pastor Nahum and his associate pastors for this lengthy revival.
  • Pray many people will be stirred to come every night and that the Gospel of Jesus will touch their hearts forever changing their lives.
  • Pray the recent set back with his electricity does not hinder the revival in anyway.
  • Pray Pastor Nahum will have enough food to provide a special feast for everyone on the final day of the revival which will be December 11th.
  • Pray for Pastor Nahum's wife and the other women in the church who will be preparing the food for the final day.
  • Pray for the wedding ceremonies...that these services will testify to the love covenant God intends marriage to represent.
I will be back in Haiti on December 7th …packing as much supplies as American Airlines legally allows me to take and sharing this most wonderful journey with my precious treasure, my daughter, Kali.  We will celebrate in the final days of these special revival services with Pastor Nahum and his church.  The great big space I keep reserved for the BTL orphans will be filled to overflowing once again as I take them up in my arms and show them God loves them.  We also plan to visit our twin baby girls we are adopting (all prayers appreciated for the strength to walk away one more time…Thank you, God, for Your perfect timing.)
