Dishwashers, hot water heaters,
air conditioning units…stuff like that goes out, we get bummed, but we find
ways to fix them or replace them because they are in our can’t-live-without-necessities
category.
Here’s the deal. Pastor Nahum doesn’t own a dish washer, hot
water heater or air conditioning unit but the water well that so richly blesses
his orphans, family, and church has a problem that needs to be addressed IMMEDIATELY.
It's an urgent matter when your life giving water supply is unexpectedly cut off. We have an emergency here.
So what’s the problem and how did this happen?
The rainy season has hit hard in
Mirebalais. They are experiencing torrential
downpours every evening. This excessive
amount of rain has wreaked havoc on Pastor Nahum’s water well causing the dirt and flood
waters to leak into his clean water source.
Pastor Nahum met with his boss about this yesterday. With concrete and iron they can build a
protective lining to prevent the flood waters and ground dirt from leaking into
his well. This will cost $600 US dollars
and take about a week to complete the work.
They can’t use their well until the work is finished so Pastor Nahum’s
children and orphans are back to the tedious labor of gathering their water in
buckets from far away springs. Oh my heart...the pain of this reality cuts deep as I listened to Pastor Nahum helplessly explain the water emergency he is facing. His voice was deflated. It's been a while since I've seen him this discouraged. With the rainy season not letting up anytime
soon these repairs have to be done NOW but he doesn’t have the $600 needed to
start the work.
If you have followed the journey
of Pastor Nahum and the plight of his orphans then you know what beautiful yet
agonizing lives they live. Today I am
speaking out for Pastor Nahum and asking for YOU to respond. We can’t think to ourselves that someone else
will take care of this problem or that what we have to give is too small to
make a real difference. Whatever amount
you can chip in towards the $600 he needs to get his well repaired will be an
investment in something eternal. YOU can
become an answer to their prayers. Our Haitian sisters
and brothers are crying out for help.
Let’s lift this heavy burden from them and give God every ounce of glory
by responding to them TOGETHER. Let’s
act like this is our own emergency and act NOW!
You can choose to give by check
or credit card. Information on how to make a tax deductible donation is on the right sidebar of this blog. Our response is needed today and I'm believing for it!
“He who is kind to
the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done.” Proverbs 19:17
