Faith Expressions

“…The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.”  Galatians 5:6b

Our Back to Life Ministries team has been packing like a bunch of crazies...there are a 11 of us leaving in 5 days and we’re taking over 1000 pounds of supplies (no, that’s not me being sarcastic…with our 19 checked bags all weighing between 50 and 70 pounds, we are literally taking well over 1000 pounds of supplies.)  I’m sure you’re all dying with anticipation to know exactly what that'll look like...11 girls with 1000 plus pounds of supplies headed to Haiti…Oh it's going to be a picture kind of moment, I'm certain even worthy of a fancy Instagram filter to be posted to my facebook complete with caption :)  It all begins to play out on July 15th  so stay tuned to get our live feeds...11 girls with over 1000 pounds...it's sure to be great entertainment and only the beginning of our Jesus journey to Mirebalais, Haiti where we will host VBS for about 200 children, so precious and adorable yet helpless and vulnerable, you know the ones that have completely stolen my heart?!  Tout bel timoun mwen yo, map vini!!  (All of my beautiful children, I'm coming!!)

God is good!

I’ve been amazed to watch as so many hearts have massively and generously poured out to help pave the path for our team to purchase and gather all of the VBS supplies, food, medical supplies, and gifts we will take to our Haitian brothers and sisters next week.  From all of us at Back to Life Ministries and on behalf of Pastor Nahum we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for participating in this beautiful mission with us.

But even with all of the blessings of so much “stuff” we are taking to Haiti, deep down I know all I really have is my faith…faith in the One who is Jesus, Son of God, my Savior and Redeemer…my Hero.  Faith counts for something, you know?  I believe our life stories are painted through the expressions of our faith.  It unlocks doors to God’s kingdom and allows us to gaze upon His glory, holy and lovely.
Faith lets me stare at the devastation in the lives of a people living in a place marked by corruption, disease, and absolute poverty then believe there is still hope…it lets me believe my Jesus Hero can turn a place like this upside down and make it a beautiful part of His Kingdom.

Faith.

It only has to be the size of a mustard seed for miracles to happen.

But we can’t just sit dormant with our little faith seeds.  We have to be willing to express the faith we have through love and extend it into the dark and broken places in our world.

“…The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.”  Galatians 5:6b

It may rarely look glamorous to the worldly eye but my life is never more joy-filled than when my faith is in action expressing itself through love to the village of Mirebalais where Pastor Nahum, his family, orphans, and schoolchildren live.  My story plot thickens each time I tell Jesus I believe in Him and then express it with an outpouring of love.
The collection of our faith expressions result in something beautiful.  Hungry desperate children find shelter, food, and clothes…they start to taste joy, hope, and love…they get rescued.  But even deeper than that, our love, when expressed through faith in Jesus, draws in souls to encounter the blessed hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ that has the power to save them and our faith family grows.  God’s kingdom expands for His gory and praise!
